The New Rose Theatre Group, originally known as HVPOPS, is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1995 by a dedicated group of parents who shared a vision: to provide scholarships and funding for local performances so that every child and community member could experience the magic of live theater. What began as a small grassroots effort has grown into a thriving nonprofit that continues to serve the Hudson Valley community nearly three decades later.

In 2000, Tony Award–nominated actor Samuel E. Wright—best known as the voice of Sebastian in The Little Mermaid and the original Mufasa in The Lion King on Broadway—established the New Rose Theatre. His dream was to create a local theater where the community could gather, create, and enjoy high-quality performances close to home. Today, the New Rose Theatre produces an average of 17 shows each year, from dance productions to musicals, plays, and concerts.

Many of these productions would not be possible without the support of the New Rose Theatre Group. Through its annual fundraiser and generous year-round donations, the group helps fund scholarships, costumes, sets, and production costs that make our shows possible.

Thanks to the vision of our founders and the generosity of our community, the New Rose Theatre continues to thrive as a home for the performing arts. With your support, we can ensure this legacy of creativity and opportunity lasts for generations to come.
